Self & The City
It all begins when I moved to Kuwait and lived in a labor camp in the middle of the desert three years ago after my vibrant, ever-changing life in Istanbul.
In the absence of the social and cultural atmosphere I used to, I started to appreciate more the beauty of daily life in the streets, the uniqueness, and the colors of each of us. I am interested in fleeting gestures and glances, moments of connection in the urban flow, the ephemeral dance of light and shadow, and street life. More than anything, what moves me is capturing the infinitesimal outward signs of inner emotional life, the interiority of people even in the midst of the most public of spaces.
Now I am at my new home in Izmir and it gives me great pleasure to walk around with my camera in this beautiful and slow city where I plan to live for a while. Finding new stories in new cities is always a fascinating experience for me and I am grateful to find the opportunity to share them with you.
